  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 4 oz. dark chocolate bar (chopped)
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and heat-treat the flour by spreading it on a sheet pan for 5 minutes.
  2. Melt the butter in a large bowl in the microwave until liquefied.
  3. Mix half of the chocolate into the melted butter until smooth.
  4. Stir in both sugars until combined; it will be grainy.
  5. Add vanilla and mix well.
  6. Sift together cocoa powder, salt, and heat-treated flour; then fold into the wet mixture until thick.
  7. Gradually add milk until desired consistency is reached.
  8. Fold in remaining chocolate chunks.
