  • 330 g self raising flour
  • 360 g granulated sugar
  • 360 g butter (salted)
  • 6 eggs
  • 30 g unsweetened black cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 90 ml milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 g butter (salted) for frosting
  • 800 g powdered sugar (icing sugar)
  • 1¼ tsp vanilla extract for frosting
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream (optional)
  • Electric green food coloring (a few drops)
  • 250 g Orange fondant for decoration
  • 200 g Black fondant for decoration
  • 1 tbsp CMC powder
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add in softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix on medium speed until well combined and fluffy.
  3. Pour the batter into the preheated baking pan. Bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow cooling completely before removing from the pan.
  4. In another bowl, beat together salted butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar while mixing on low speed until well blended. Stir in vanilla extract and electric green food coloring until you achieve your desired shade.
  5. Crumble cooled chocolate cake into small pieces. Layer crumbled cake at the bottom of each jar followed by a layer of green buttercream. Repeat until jars are filled, finishing with a layer of frosting on top.
  6. Roll out orange fondant to create witch legs or other decorations as desired. Place fondant decorations on top of each jar along with sprinkles for that festive touch.
